Karen Ulyett

Speech Pathologist

Karen is an experienced Speech Pathologist specialising in early childhood development, with a particular focus on children aged 0 – 8 years.

Karen is a registered member of Speech Pathology Australia and a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist.

She has experience working in a range of settings including Mainstream and Special Developmental Schools, Kindergartens, Clinics and clients’ homes.

Karen prides herself on her ability to quickly gain a rapport with children and their families and to pitch activities at a level suited to the child’s needs. This creates fun and engaging therapy sessions for all involved.

Karen accepts referrals for a range of presenting problems including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (diagnosis and therapy)

  • Global Developmental Delays

  • Language Delays/Disorders

  • Late Talkers

  • Speech Sound Delays/Disorders including Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS)

  • Pragmatics and Social Skills

She has also completed additional training in the Hanen More Than Words program and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), as well as having experience using Key Word Sign and Auslan in her therapy.

Karen is a strong believer in providing family centred therapy, meaning that parents/carers are heavily involved in the entire process, from assessment and goal setting to the hands-on intervention with their child. This enables the family to continue providing therapy between visits, maximising the outcome of the sessions.
